WHEN FOOD IS ALL THAT MAKES SENSE

It’s been a helluva week. The right words don’t come easily right now. In fact, the wrong ones feel on the verge of being muttered every hour. Many people are simply done with it all while others are despondent. Some are crying while many are jubilant. Writing a blog that doesn’t offend someone right now feels as challenging as sitting through a meal with Lauren Boebert. See, there, I did it.

Here’s one thing we know for sure. Worry, panic, blame and and vitriol won’t get us far. We need to take a moment. Feeling our feelings and connecting with those we love will be the ultimate anchors as we enter the holiday season, a time filled with unmatched moments of connection and conversational land mines.

Feels like a good time for some good company .

So what do we need most right now? Team Cacio says: food. Sometimes it’s the only answer. It’s (finally) getting colder and it’s certainly darker, so let’s take this opportunity to get grounded and feed ourselves some delicious damn food. Not just ok or “good” food, this is a moment in time demanding nothing but world class recipes that let us take a deep breath and remember this wondrous world we are a part of.

These dishes are all made by women we deeply admire and recipes that are close to our hearts. Some are holiday classics, some are perfect for hosting guests, while others are simply delicious meals that are worth a shout out to make ASAP 🚨 Whether you’re celebrating the holidays, avoiding the holidays, or treating yourself to a quiet night in, these are all winners. We know some of these may be behind pay walls, but please google the recipe creator and the name and you can find elsewhere, but big shout out to paid subscriptions to help keep recipe creators producing their amazing content.

This is a weeknight wonder, thank you Yewande. Wintry root veggies combined with the umami rich gochujang keep us coming back again and again and again and again and again.

Leave it to Melissa to nail the perfect pecan pie. If you’re looking for a grand applause on a traditional holiday classic, look no further.

No one is more loved than a host serving shrimp cocktail. I repeat, no one.

A Roman twofer - when you need an impressive main that is somehow so stress free it could bring you tears of joy, this is the answer.

Don’t wait for someone to die to make this. There’s cornflakes people, ok? Run don’t walk.

This is on heavy rotation with Team Cacio. It’s got cheeses, it’s got crunch and it will keep you regular. Thank you Martha Rose we love you.

I can taste the chili crisp now. A Genevieve classic.

From the Cacio e Pepe kitchen to yours, happy cooking. May these recipes bring joy and a little pazzo magic to the season ahead. Thank you to the strong and talented women behind each one.

Real big hugs,
The Cacio e Pepe Team
